Who I am
Colette
I have been passionate about cats since I was a child. Little by little, the idea of starting a small occasional cattery took shape. I was looking for a hardy, natural breed, and chance did the rest.
I went with a friend to Prague to collect a cat for her cattery. The breeder there worked with two breeds; one of them was the Kurilian Bobtail. I fell in love immediately.
Four years ago I got my first Kurilian Bobtail as a pet. His character won me over at once. In 2025 I asked that same breeder in Prague for a young female to breed with. This litter is the first from my family cattery.
My cats live indoors, alongside my other cats and my Dutch Shepherd. They are not kennel cats: they grow up in the noise of a household, and it shows in their character.
In brief
What defines the Kurilian Bobtail
This is not a breed invented on paper. It is a natural population from the Kuril Islands, known there for more than two centuries, shaped by the climate long before anyone selected for it.
- Every tail is unique
Three to eight centimetres, made of two to ten vertebrae kinked in several directions. No two tails are alike; the fur gives it the look of a pom-pom.
- Calm and affectionate
Attached to its family, never clingy. It never seeks conflict with other cats — which matters if you already have one at home.
- Explorer, jumper, climber
Curious by nature and remarkably athletic. Plan for height: shelves, a cat tree, window ledges. A Kurilian gets bored in a flat room.
- Intelligent and easy to live with
It learns quickly and understands a great deal. Sociable with children and, generally, with dogs.
- Males are substantial
A male can reach eight kilos; females stay around four. The difference between the sexes is striking.
What families say
One family has been before you
We are delighted with our new kitten. Colette is a devoted cat keeper who looks after her animals with real passion and affection. Communication and arrangements went smoothly from start to finish. We could not be happier.
How it works
Come and meet them, or choose from photographs
The nicest way is to come, watch them play, and leave with the one you clicked with. But reserving from photographs is perfectly possible: that is how I chose my own queens — Prague is 800 kilometres away.
A message
Write to me. Tell me who you are, where you live, and whether you already have animals. I work during the week, so I usually reply in the evening.
A visit
Come as a family, without rushing. You will meet the kittens, their mother, the other cats and the dog, and see where they grow up.
Going home
The kitten leaves vaccinated, microchipped and registered, with its passport and guarantee certificate. And I stay reachable afterwards: if you have any question at all, just ask.
